Seeing Green is a collection of my work at Hattie Carthan Community Farmers Market to tell the story of how it is to be in the Youth Program. With eyes of documenter i’ve worked the land, learned abundance thinking and showed it, this cinematic film tells stories of food and green light in our community.
In the making of this video, I wanted to make the land symbolic it was initially planned to be filmed at Hattie Carthan community farmers market, but due to lack of time, I had to move to Prospect Park. For this project, it was planned to be a far-away shot of me leaning against a tree with my camera on a tripod. And me spacking the native Aztec laguage Nahuatl. Then the video shows me honoring the land and all the ancestors before me. Soon the video then shifts to the essential part of the video Food Justice and how we should depend on the ground to heal our people. And then some Cultural facts about how the Aztec people used the land.
A view of Entrepreneurs viewing the art (maybe interview some with some background view of the art. focusing on capturing the authentic experience of this trip to tell why we (ember) take out-of-school trips like this. (Let’s have a question to ask the Entrepreneurs and the ember staff that comes with us in the interviews.)
Take videos of our transportation to Barclay’s if we’re moving as a group or individually getting there.
Before the Shoot, The ember photography & videography club developed a plan to know what angles we wanted to shoot and where we wanted our cameras for the photographers & videographers needed because this shoot was around 11:00 Am, and light from the sun wasn’t an issue. Still, we shoot with the sun and not toward it. As we got to the site, there were gates surrounding the plots we planned to shoot, so the angles we mapped out had to change slightly. I was in charge of producing, directing, and editing this video. So I quickly came up with a plan for the video team. I needed a wide-angle shot upward to capture the entrepreneur talking and the artwork conveying the subject “We belong here.” As we got to the site, traffic was an issues so the Audio was so had to use an external microphone and reduce the noise during the editing process. Fola was in charge of Photographing the entrepreneurs while giving speeches on why they belong to incorporate during the editing process.
